Kindroid and Nomi are the two companion apps that sell themselves on memory, and both back that up with more documentation than most of the category. If you are choosing between them, you probably care less about image generation and more about a companion that remembers your life and talks to you on the phone.
This comparison is based on each company's published pricing, help docs, terms and privacy policy as of October 23, 2026. We have not yet completed hands-on testing of either app, so it compares what each one promises and charges, not how well recall holds up after a month.
On paper the two apps are close. Both offer layered memory you can partly view and edit, voice and calls on paid plans, native iOS and Android apps plus the web, and refund policies that amount to "no." The real differences are in four places: how much you can do for free, what a year costs, what each allows in adult content, and what happens to your chats.

Pros and Cons
Kindroid
Pros
- The memory system is documented in detail, and you can view and edit Learned Context and journal entries and see which long-term memories were recalled for a given reply
- Published Moderation Guidelines explicitly allow NSFW and erotic roleplay for adults and limit enforcement to three named red lines
- Native apps on iPhone, iPad and Android plus the web, all on one account
- The privacy policy says Kindroid will 'not sell or share your Personal Data', chats are encrypted at rest and in transit, and support staff cannot browse your chats
- Self-serve data export from Profile every 30 days, and read-only accounts can still view, export and delete everything
Cons
- Refunds are generally not offered: the docs say 'all sales are final', with refunds only at Kindroid's discretion
- No prices on the web; the App Store lists Standard at 15.99 a month, and the docs say web checkout is usually cheaper but give no figure
- The free preview is a one-time 50 messages (15 in some regions), after which the account becomes read-only
- Ultra and MAX are monthly-only add-ons stacked on Standard and cancelled separately; on iOS all three together come to 113.97 a month
- Not end-to-end encrypted, the terms let Kindroid use de-identified content 'for any purpose', and disputes go to binding individual arbitration unless you opt out within 30 days
Nomi
Pros
- An indefinite free plan with 50 messages per day, and no credit card needed to start
- Credit costs are published (1 credit per selfie or art request, 6 per SD video, 10 per HD video) and credits do not expire
- Mind Map 2.0 has a table view where you can find, edit and add memory entries
- Runs on the web, iOS and Android, with step-by-step cancellation instructions for each
- The privacy policy says personal information is not sold or rented, and the help wiki says there are no plans for ads
Cons
- All payments are nonrefundable, including for buyer's remorse, unused time and partial months
- Prices are not published on nomi.ai; the App Store lists a Launch Plan and a Standard Plan without saying how they differ
- Voice messages, calls, group chats and video creation are paid features that turn read-only if you downgrade
- Chats are used in anonymised, aggregate form to train Nomis, and the training archive is exempt from account deletion
- The Terms require mediation and then individual JAMS arbitration, with a class action waiver
The Catch
Kindroid
The sheer amount of customization can be overwhelming for beginners looking for a simple plug-and-play experience.
Nomi
Does not offer dedicated desktop applications, relying entirely on the web interface and mobile apps.
Final Verdict
Nomi Wins This Round
Nomi is the better pick for most people. It has a real free tier of 50 messages a day with no end date and no card, while Kindroid's free preview is 50 messages in total, after which the account goes read-only. Paid, Nomi's Standard Plan is 99.99 a year on the US App Store against Kindroid's 159.99, and Nomi also sells a 59.99-a-year Launch Plan. Nomi's credits do not expire, and its Mind Map lets you find, edit and add memory entries directly.
Who should pick Kindroid instead
Choose Kindroid if adult roleplay or privacy decides it for you. Kindroid publishes moderation guidelines that explicitly allow erotic roleplay for adults and limit enforcement to three named red lines. Nomi does not allow nude images. Kindroid's privacy policy says it will not sell or share your personal data, though it does not say whether chats train its models. Nomi says plainly that anonymised chats are used for training and that its training archive is exempt from account deletion. Kindroid also shows which long-term memories were recalled for each reply, which Nomi does not document.
Be aware that Kindroid's Ultra and MAX add-ons stack on top of Standard and can take the iOS bill to 113.97 a month.
